A doctor in need is a friend indeed

Everyone knows Jeeves: the clever butler; but fewer know Bertie. Bertie Wooster is the dumb boss of Jeeves (created by P.G. Woodhouse). I call myself the dumb boss. That is why I started Berties Concierge Services in Singapore; KL & HK.

Bertie states: ‘I know perfectly well that I’ve got, roughly speaking, half the amount of brain a normal bloke ought to possess’. Because I have half the brains; I must work twice as hard. That is why I’m a workaholic.

Why did I start Berties? A family member recently had a health scare in Kuala Lumpur. She had what we now know is a spontaneous subconjunctival hemorrhage in one eye (bloodshot eye). I panicked because she was all alone in KL. I called Dr Ronald Yeoh of Eye & Retina Surgeons (Michelle Yeoh’s brother; but he is famous in his own right) and he reassured me that the condition looked scarier than it appears. A doctor in need is a friend indeed.

My whole family have had COVID-19. Some members had the disease more than once. We had to evacuate a family member from Germany in the early days of COVID-19. Dr Leong Hoe-Nam of Rophi Clinic has been a friend indeed.

Now Berties has signed up with Sunway Medical Centre & Healthcare. Berties will find you a doctor. Healthcare should be the top priority in any family. My family has a BUPA Global Group Plan. It is only expensive because I am nearly 70 years old. That way my family will not have to worry about the medical bills, which will inevitably mount. Memento Mori.

Family offices are very good at wealthcare; less so about healthcare.
